Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills
What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy?
DBT is an evidenced based therapy that was developed by Marsha Linehan, with the purpose to initially treat people suffering from symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder.
DBT has since been applied to other problem areas in life, such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- PTSD
- Addiction
- General relationship stress
- Problems with burnout & coping
Why learn skills outside of therapy?
DBT separates skills education and application from the therapy setting. This allows the person to fully submerge themselves in processing while in therapy, while fully submerging themselves in learning when in skills. Sometimes people have also caped at their ability to benefit from processing. They might just need some skills to help them with effective change making.
Our Mission is to teach adults & teens evidenced based skills that can improve their mood, coping & overall effectiveness in life in an accelerated setting through Wise Practice skills programs.
At Wise Practice, we feel skills are for everyone! We find that not everyone needs a mental health diagnosis or problem to benefit from life enhancing skills taught in DBT.
